Education is the most important element for the growth
and prosperity of a nation. With this view in mind,
Gyan Sewa launches Rural Talent Project (RTP) to uplift
the quality and level of education of students residing
in villages and rural areas of Punjab. One of the
first projects, which is being commenced this year
is setting up of coaching Centers in villages to prepare
students for competing in the entrance examination
for Professional courses, such as Medicine, Engineering,
Biotechnology, Computer Science, Architecture, etc.
In most of these entrance examinations, competition
being very tough, even small difference of one mark
makes substantial difference in ranking. In big cities,
there has been proliferation of plenty of coaching
centers, which train students exclusively for these
examinations. But, students from villages, who do
not have access these coaching classes lag behind.
Even through rural students may be more
intelligent, but due to lack of access to proper resources,
they are the ultimate sufferers. The students residing
in village do not get an opportunity to study professional
courses, which enjoy a status in society.
These students then choose ordinary collage courses
like B.A., B.Sc., etc and there are hardly any jobs
after graduation or even post graduation. This generates
lot of frustration amongst the rural youth.
Gyan Sewa plans to take to take the best education
from Delhi directly to villages in Punjab. The idea
is to identify talent amongst rural youth and promote
them to excel in life. With this object, a Resource
Centre is being set up in Delhi to provide the course
material and for training teachers of the coaching
centers in villages in Punjab .
